01

Assessment of the condition of the tooth

A tooth is most often extracted when it can no longer be properly restored with a filling or prosthetics, and also during orthodontic treatment or in the case of periodontal diseases. Incorrectly erupted, retained (fully formed but, for various reasons, unerupted) or partially erupted wisdom teeth are also often removed when they do not perform a chewing function, are hard to clean properly and pose a risk to the health of the neighbouring teeth. In preparation for extraction, an X-ray is taken and the position of the crown and roots of the tooth and the condition of the surrounding anatomical structures of the jaw are assessed.

02

Tooth extraction

Tooth extraction is carried out under local anaesthesia, so it is painless and causes no discomfort. If a complex extraction or the extraction of several teeth is planned, intravenous anaesthesia (sedation) can be used at the patient’s request.

03

The post-procedure period

Swelling is possible after the procedure, and ice compresses help to reduce it. Once the anaesthetics wear off, pain may also be felt; it is recommended to relieve it with anti-inflammatory medication. Sometimes antibiotic therapy may be needed, in which case the dentist will prescribe it.

04

Removal of the stitches

If the wound was stitched after the tooth was extracted, you will need to come back after 7 days to have the stitches removed.

Andrius Petrauskas

We aim to make sure that you feel no unpleasant sensations during tooth extraction. We professionally and painlessly carry out the extraction or surgical removal of a damaged tooth and the extraction of wisdom teeth. It is important to us to build a relationship with the patient and earn their trust, because this largely determines the success of the treatment and improves how the patient feels during and after the operation. To make sure that the post-operative period goes smoothly and causes as little discomfort as possible, we always give patients detailed recommendations on what to do after a tooth extraction.
